Drug Awareness - Volunteer and internship programs
Volunteer and internship programs with MAYA NEPAL
About 3.3 million people die from alcohol-related causes every year and over 29 million persons have drug use disorders.
Maya Nepal Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Center is a non-governmental and non-profit organization operating in Nepal. The center provides preventive, diagnostic and treatment services for those in need across the country.
Maya Nepal has helped a large number of alcohol and drug addicts who have expressed the willingness to quit addiction but could not cover the entire cost of a treatment and rehabilitation program on their own. Through their different programs, Maya Nepal provides access to high quality services focused on recovery, offers safe shelters to the underprivileged alcoholics and drug addicts, advocates against the violation of their human rights and raises public awareness about addiction to reduce stigma and discrimination.
Please note that the volunteer/intern's work is based upon his/her area(s) of expertise and the needs of the rehabilitation center. Therefore, we only accept qualified volunteers/interns.
Maya Nepal provides short-term medical and psychological care to drug and alcohol addicts and people living with HIV (PLHAs). Most of the patients staying at their centers remain there for about 1 month at a time. Mostly PLHAs who are starting TB or HIV treatments stay there until they are fully adapted to their new regimen. Generally after initiating an ARV treatment, PLHAs are able to lead a normal lifestyle; however, they still need different forms of support.
Currently, Maya Nepal runs 2 centers in the country... But they are looking to expand!
Maya Nepal provides individual/couple/family counseling, bereavement and adherence counseling, drug dependence counseling and support to those in need across the country. They also provide support for medication, transportation and diagnostics.
Maya Nepal is also offering exclusive awareness programs for individuals, corporate sectors, and schools and colleges.
