Holi Festival Of Colors Holiday - 9 Days
Join us for a memorable and fun trip, and experience one of the most exotic
and spectacular colorful holiday celebrations in the world:
HOLI !
Play and laugh, chase and throw colors, sing and dance, and enjoy the party!
The Hindu Festival of Colors – Holi – is a festival celebrated each year in Nepal and India, to mark the beginning of the spring. It usually takes place in March, sometimes at the end of February.
Holi is also called Fagu Purnima (Nepali word for Full Moon). Holi is celebrated on the last full moon day of the Nepali month of Falguna. During Holi, people go wild in the streets and throw colored water and powders at each other. Eventually, everyone in the streets gets a splash of colors.
Holi celebrates the victory of good over evil. It is believed that Hiranyakashipu, an evil king, forbade his son Prahlad from worshipping Vishnu, but Prahlad continued to offer prayers to the God Vishnu. Angry with his son, Hiranyakashipu challenged Prahlad to sit on a pyre with his wicked aunt Holika who was believed to be immune to fire. Prahlad accepted the challenge and prayed to Vishnu to keep him safe. When the fire started, everyone watched with amazement as Holika was burnt to death, while Prahlad survived without a scar. The burning of Holika is celebrated as Holi.
Holi bridges social gaps and brings people together: employees and employers, men and women, rich and poor, young and old. A popular saying heard during Holi is “Bura na mano, Holi hai” (Don't feel offended, it's Holi).
